Introduction

Soil provides the fundamental support for food production system on the earth. Apart from providing the support for our food, it provides several functional supports for healthy human life on this planet. Few major functions of soil are regulation of climate, cycling of nutrients, providing shelter to numerous organisms, purification of water, reduction in soil contamination, sequestering soil carbon etc. That’s why we call the soil as the mother earth. However, the present soil is under threat and it is a global concern. Soil salinization and solidification, soil nutrient imbalance, soil sealing, soil contamination, soil erosion, soil organic carbon loss, soil biodiversity loss etc are the major threats at different parts of the world.

Therefore, it requires attention for effective soil management for successful crop cultivation. Soil nutrient management is the key for sustaining agricultural production. Among different essential soil nutrients, nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) are three major nutrients and needs to be supplied in sufficient quantity to obtain desired yield. Increasing requirement of food production cannot be achieved by natural means alone and application of fertilizers is necessary. However, there is need to apply fertilizer judiciously based on soil testing and following the crop based recommendations. Attentions are also required to soil micronutrients, which is becoming deficient due to intensive crop cultivation. As per law of minimum, deficiency in any of soil micronutrients negatively affect overall soil functions and thus reduces the crop production. Application of suitable amendments for ameliorating the effect of soil salinity and sodicity, should also be the major focus for maintaining soil productivity.

Purbanchal Bio-Tech has been sincerely working on providing need based solutions for efficient soil managements since its establishment in the year 2000. The company was founded by Mr. Swapan Kumar Biswas after completing his study in agriculture from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya. Since our establishment, we have been not only providing few popular micronutrient products and organic manures, but also supplying suitable plant growth promoting hormones, soil ameliorants e.g. calciumcarbonate etc. Few of our products are Jingalala, Humic Power, Grouth etc. In today’s agricultural growth and development in West Bengal, India, contribution of Purbanchal Bio-tech is notable. We focus on sustaining food production without negatively affecting the agriculture ecology. In future, we also target to provide specific solutions for different soil types and cropping practices.
